The quiet kind of glow.
A gentle, non-ablative fractional laser that refreshes tone, smooths texture, and softens early signs of sun damage — with the kind of minimal downtime that fits real life. No peeling secret. Just better skin.
A gentler approach to resurfacing.
Moxi by Sciton is a non-ablative fractional 1927 nm laser designed to address the earliest signs of skin aging — without the long recovery of traditional resurfacing lasers. It works by delivering microscopic columns of energy beneath the skin surface, prompting your body to produce fresh, healthier cells in their place.
The result is a quiet, cumulative kind of beautiful. Skin looks more even. More awake. And because Moxi is gentle enough for most skin tones, it's a treatment we can comfortably offer to a wide range of patients in our Dorchester practice.
Clients in their late twenties through fifties who want noticeable rejuvenation without taking a week off work.

Pairs beautifully with BBL
BroadBand Light targets pigment; Moxi refines texture.
Designed for the concerns we hear most.
Moxi isn't about transformation — it's about restoration. We use it to gently dial back the visible signs of time, sun, and city living, so your skin looks like the version of itself you remember.
Uneven tone & sun damage
Soften early sun spots, lingering pigment, and the patchy unevenness that sneaks in over the years.
Texture & roughness
Smooth out the rough, "tired" surface texture that no amount of skincare seems to fix.
Enlarged pores
Refine the appearance of pores for a smoother, more polished surface in everyday light.
Fine lines & early aging
Treat fine lines around the eyes and mouth before they deepen into permanent creases.
Dullness & lost glow
Reawaken the natural radiance that gets buried under stress, screens, and Boston winters.
Melasma & stubborn discoloration
A gentler option for clients with discoloration who can't tolerate more aggressive lasers.
What to expect, step by step.
Knowing exactly what's coming makes any treatment feel calmer. Here's how a Moxi session unfolds at our Dorchester office.
Cleanse & numb
We begin by thoroughly cleansing your skin and applying a topical numbing cream. It sits for 30–45 minutes — perfect time to relax, ask questions, or scroll your phone.
Treatment plan & settings
We review your skin goals, confirm areas to be treated, and select the appropriate Moxi settings for your skin type and concerns. Most patients are treated full-face, sometimes extending to the neck and chest.
The laser pass
The Moxi handpiece glides across your skin in slow, methodical passes. Most clients describe it as warm rubber bands snapping — intense for a few seconds at a time, but very manageable. We check in often.
Cool down
We apply cool air or mineral water mist to bring your skin temperature down. Your face will feel hot, like a strong sunburn — this is normal and fades over the next few hours.
Aftercare walkthrough
Before you leave, we go over the full aftercare plan in detail and send you home with written instructions. We also follow up by text to make sure your healing is going smoothly.
A simple, gentle recovery.
Moxi recovery is straightforward, but the small details matter. Here's exactly what we recommend — and what to expect from your skin in the days after treatment.
Let the heat settle
Your skin will feel hot, like a sunburn. Avoid anything occlusive — no heavy creams, oils, or makeup right away. Gently mist your face with mineral water for comfort. Skip workouts, hot showers, saunas, and steam.
Hydrate generously
Once the heat has dissipated, begin applying a lightweight moisturizer generously throughout the day. Reapply often. Your skin is working hard to heal, and hydration is its closest ally.
Sun protection is non-negotiable
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning and reapply throughout the day. Avoid direct sun exposure for the next few weeks — sun damage now will undo your investment in this treatment.
Pause the actives
Hold off on retinol, vitamin C, exfoliating acids, and physical scrubs for about 5–7 days. Stick to gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. We'll tell you when it's safe to bring everything back in.
Starting the day after treatment, you'll notice tiny bronze or dark dots across the treated area. These are called MENDs (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) — essentially the dead skin cells your body is pushing out as fresh new skin grows underneath. They typically last 4–7 days. Do not pick at them. Let them flake off naturally. Picking can cause pigmentation issues and slow your healing.
Transparent pricing.
Great skin shouldn't come with mystery pricing. Here's exactly what your treatment costs — with package savings for clients ready to commit to a full series of three sessions.

Moxi questions, answered.
How many Moxi sessions will I actually need?
Most clients see real results after a series of three sessions, spaced approximately four weeks apart. Some choose to do one or two sessions a year afterward to maintain their results. During your consultation, we'll build a plan based on your skin and goals.
Does it hurt?
With our topical numbing cream applied beforehand, most clients describe the sensation as warm rubber bands snapping — uncomfortable in moments but very manageable. We check in throughout the treatment and can adjust as needed. Many clients are surprised by how easy it actually is.
When will I see results?
You'll notice an immediate glow once the redness fades and the MENDs flake off (about a week after treatment). Deeper improvements in tone, texture, and pigmentation continue to develop over 4–6 weeks as your skin produces new, healthier cells.
Can I do Moxi if I have a darker skin tone?
Yes — this is one of Moxi's biggest strengths. Unlike many older lasers that risked pigmentation issues in deeper skin tones, Moxi was specifically designed to be safer and more comfortable for a wider range of skin types. We'll evaluate your skin during consultation to confirm and adjust settings accordingly.
Should I do Moxi alone or combine with BBL?
BBL and Moxi work on different concerns. BBL excels at pigment, redness, and sun spots; Moxi excels at texture, pores, and fine lines. Combining them in one visit gives you the most complete result. If you only have one specific concern, a single treatment might be enough — we'll help you decide at your consultation.
Is there really no downtime?
You'll have a "sandy" feeling and small dark MENDs on your skin for about 4–7 days. Most clients are comfortable returning to work and normal social plans within 24–48 hours, especially with light makeup once your skin is healed enough. It's not zero downtime, but it's the gentlest fractional laser we offer.
When should I avoid Moxi?
Moxi isn't appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infections, uncontrolled acne, recent isotretinoin use, or recent significant sun exposure. We'll go through your full medical history at your consultation to make sure it's a safe fit.
Can I wear makeup after?
We recommend skipping makeup for the first 24 hours so your skin can breathe and recover. After that, mineral makeup is generally fine, but be very gentle when applying and removing it while the MENDs are still present.
